Sandra Roy Obituary
Sandra Ann (Harris) Roy,74, of North Windham, passed away after a brief illness on March 14, 2022. She was born in Cambra, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Albert and Elsie (Green) Harris. She moved to Connecticut as a young child after the passing of her parents where she was taken in by her loving sister, Shirley, and her husband Arthur Smith, of Willimantic. There she was raised alongside their children; nieces Beverly Smith and Shelly Ciantor and nephews Arthur and Jeffrey Smith. Sandra also had four other siblings; the late Hebert Burgess, Betty Cole, Jane Hummel, and Edward Harris.
Sandra attended Windham High School and retired from the State of Connecticut where she worked at Mansfield Training School. She was devoted to caring for many individuals who resided there. Sandra was passionate about the welfare of animals, often taking in many homeless pets. She also loved tending to her yard and paid great attention and detail while appreciating the beauty of the flowers and birds that surrounded her. Sandra was a dedicated member and administrator of a low carbs Facebook group. It is through this group that she formed many long-lasting friendships with other members.
She is survived by her three children, Tammy (Konarski) Hart, Dawn Konarski, and Chad Roy; she also leaves behind three grandchildren, Ashley Alves-Konarski, Tiffani Bassett and Joel Hebert; three great-grandchildren, Cameron, Noah, and Sofia. In addition to Ashley’s mom, Sandra played a significant role in helping Ashley to become the person she is today.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date. The family requests that any donations should be made to an animal shelter in their community.
