Sandra "Sandy" J. Garrison departed this life on October 08, 2013 at her home in Chaplin with her family by her side. She was born May 28, 1941 in Troy NY, daughter of the late William J. Hernberg and Florence (Williams) Hernberg and sister of the estranged Allan Hernberg. Sandy, along with her husband, Richard W. Garrison ran their General Contractors business, where she was office manager, prior to her retirement due to her failing health. Along with her husband she leaves to mourn her passing, a daughter Brenda (Gregory) Garrison-Gonzalez and her husband Jose Gonzalez and a very special step daughter Diana Garrison all of Chaplin, along with Richard's 3 other children, Joyce, Daniel, and David; grandchildren, Chad Garrison and his 3 daughters (her great granddaughters) Jewelia, Graci, and Abby all of Hampton, Mariah and Laci Gonzalez of Chaplin along with many special step grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also leaves a niece and 2 nephews including a special one, Carl Hernberg and his family. Sandy enjoyed spending her winters in their home in Jensen Beach, Florida, and summer trips to Vermont where she leaves many good friends to reminisce of their times spent together. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Michael Keenan and staff for their many years of care, St. Joseph Living Center's St. Pat's wing and rehab staff for their wonderful care, and Hospice/VNA East for their warm and compassionate care during her final weeks, especially Tina, Deb, Holly, Linda, Bill, Denise, and Ann. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Friday Oct. 11th between 4:00pm and 7:00pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic.
