Sandra J. Duchaineau, 69, of Ellington, CT, passed from this life on March 28, 2013. She was born in Gardiner, Maine on June 30, 1943 to Ernest and Leona Bowie and was married to Ronald Duchaineau who passed away in 1998. Her firstborn son Rod Duchaineau passed away in 2012. Sandy worked for over 25 years at Eastern Connecticut State University. She enjoyed hiking, white-water rafting, camping and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She lived for a time in Florida and North Carolina where she was active in her church and in the community. She loved her family and her black lab, Simba, and was a member of Ellington Congregational Church. She is survived by her brothers Ernest Bowie Jr. and his wife Beverly of Portland, ME; Robert Bowie of South Paris, ME; John Bowie of Springfield, MA; her sister Mary Vermette of Storrs, CT, her daughters Kimberly Duchaineau of Norwich, CT, Pamela Day and her husband Jon of Norwich, CT; her sons Jeffrey Duchaineau of Vernon, CT, Darren Duchaineau and his wife Lisa of Bloomfield, CT; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren who will miss their beloved "Memere." Her family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday April 3, 2013 between 6:00 and 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11:00am in St. Joseph Cemetery, Club Rd., Windham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ellington Congregational Church, P.O.
