Sandra Cady Obituary
Sandra Lathrop Cady, formerly of Ashford and Windham Center, passed away at Douglas Manor on Monday, February 27, 2023, four days after her 83rd birthday. She was born in Windham, CT on February 23, 1940, the daughter of the late Henry Keeney and Hilda Zimmerman Lathrop.
Sandy is survived by her two daughters, Lucretia Porizky and her husband Mark of Mystic, CT and Lucinda Marsalisi and her husband Tony of Columbia, CT; she leaves behind five grandchildren, Ryan, Cassie, Billy, Kyle and Joey and one great grandson, Brayden, and a few special friends, Bobbi-Jo Wicklund of Ashford, Dana Monaco of Ashford, and Ed and Judy Casey of Manchester. She was predeceased by her stepbrother James Gray Lathrop of Honolulu, Hawaii.
Sandra volunteered at Windham Hospital for several years and had been a member of the Women’s Auxiliary. She loved spending time outdoors, playing bingo, getting her nails done, having an occasional vanilla milkshake from McDonald’s, and tending to her house plants. She will be remembered for her feisty personality and love of dogs; always lighting up when her furry friends came to visit.
Her family would like to thank all the wonderful nurses and staff at Douglas Manor for the care they provided her during the last four and a half years.
A graveside ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 4:00pm at the Windham Center Cemetery. Burial will be held at a later date.
