Samuel B. Gottlieb, 53, of Willimantic, died Monday February 20, 2006 at his home. He was born January 27, 1953 in Willimantic, the son of Benjamin and Jennie (Buskey) Gottlieb of Willimantic and was a lifelong resident. He was employed as a maintenance engineer at UConn for over 20 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed his time working at UConn and the opportunity it provided him to further his knowledge of various trades which allowed him to achieve his goal of becoming a certified electrician. After his retirement he devoted more time to fishing, which was his passion. In addition to his parents he is survived by his former wife and soul mate, Gail (Larson) Gottlieb of Willimantic, 2 sons, William Gottlieb of Waltham, MA, Dustin Gottlieb of Willimantic, 4 siblings, Joanne Symmes of South Windsor, Richard Gottlieb of Willimantic, Steven Gottlieb of Willimantic and Melissa Benito of Scotland, 4 grandchildren, Emily, Brenden and Colin Gottlieb of Colchester, Livia Capizzi of Columbia and many nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Friday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association,306 Industrial Park Rd., Suite 105, Middletown, CT 06457.
