Sam Pescetello, of Columbia flew his last mission home on September 22, 2014. He was a decorated WWII veteran and was proud of the fact that with no higher education he became an Air Force Navigator, flying missions over Germany. Still feisty at 90, he had a great run. Sam started his working career as a home builder. His last project was the creation of Yeomans Road in Columbia. This experience led to his appointment as building inspector in many area towns. Sam enjoyed The Columbia Lions, gardening and feeding the birds that enjoyed his beautiful yard, with so many trees and flowers, a lasting tribute to his work with nature. Sam is survived by two daughters: Georgieanna Fisher of Mansfield with Tom and granddaughters, Becca and Christina Fisher and Marie Pescetello of Boston. He also leaves his devoted friend Peggy Fuller of Columbia and his companion and caregiver Craig Dziekan of Columbia who called him Pop. The family wishes to thank the incredible staff of Senior Care of East Hartford and Regency Heights Nursing home for their kindness, love and patience. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 27th at 10:00 am, at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street (RTE 195), Willimantic, CT. The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior. Burial will follow in the West Street Cemetery, Columbia, CT. Please sign the online guest book at
