Sally Thompson Obituary
Sally Ann Thompson, 97, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022 after a brief illness at her long-time home in Chaplin, Connecticut. She was born April 25, 1925 in Hartford, CT, the daughter of Theodore McClouth Stanley and Marjorie Bartlett Stanley. Sally married Robert Gervais Thompson in 1949 and the two made their first home in Short Beach, CT, soon thereafter raising their three children in Leola, Pennsylvania. The family moved to their Chaplin home in the fall of 1961.

Sally will be remembered for her devotion to taking loving care of her family and the family home, and for having been a devoted cook and baker. She relished life with many years of summer visits to the family cottage on the Connecticut shore, going on cruises with various members of her family, playing bridge, gardening, and collecting decorative plates and silverware. For years she enjoyed running the gift shop at Windham Community Memorial Hospital in Willimantic, CT, and took special pleasure in contributing to the Memoirs group of the Chaplin Connecticut Senior Center. In her later years, Sally particularly enjoyed playing card games with family and caregivers, watching television game shows, and receiving visits from her children and grandchildren. Perhaps most of all, she will be remembered for her patient demeanor, a crafty sense of humor and the enjoyment of laughter.

Sally is survived by her three children: Diane, Bruce and Robin; two grandchildren: Brendan and Chelsea; and her great grandchild, Waylon.

Her services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending donations to the Chaplin Senior Center, 132 Chaplin St, Chaplin, CT 06235.
