Ruth Eleanor Voight

To Ruth's family she was the mover and shaker; always organizing family activities, chauffeuring children to their activities and school, planning bridge parties and elaborate get-togethers with friends. Ruth passed away on May 13, 2014. Ruth was born in Bozeman, Montana on March 23, 1925 to Rev. John Potratz and Ida Jossi Potratz. Ruth spent most of her young life in Shawano and Howard's Grove, Wisconsin. She met Carl (Bud) Voight in the fall of 1945 and they were married in January 1946. The Voight's moved around a bit in their early life together, settling in Villa Park, Illinois to raise their two daughters, Marcia and Paula and their son, Mark. In 1971 the family moved to CT. Ruth was kept busy with family activities and with her leadership roles at Cheshire Lutheran Church, Cheshire Women's and Newcomer's Clubs. In 1989, Bud and Ruth retired to Flat Rock, NC where they quickly developed lasting friendships and became active members of their church and community. They enjoyed many trips throughout the US and abroad. After Bud's death, Ruth continued to travel and enjoy life in NC. After several years Ruth decided to join her children in CT moving into Covenant Village of Cromwell. Ruth will be remembered for her wit, energy and compassion. She will be missed by her family and friends. Ruth's children, their spouses and her grandchildren would like to express their thanks to Covenant Village for their compassion and great care through the years.
