Ruth Spector-Tycon, 92, of Willimantic, wife of the late Benjamin Tycon, died Tuesday March 26, 2013 at Windham Hospital. She was born on March 21, 1921 in Willimantic the daughter of the late Morris and Esther (Handelman) Spector. Ruth had been a resident of Sunny Isles, Florida for many years, returning to Willimantic five years ago. As a resident of Sunny Isles, she was well respected for her involvement in community affairs. She was predeceased by two brothers, Howard G. Spector and Stanley Spector. She is survived by a brother Saul Spector of Old Saybrook and nieces and nephews, "Pat" Virginia Underwood and her husband Joe, Howard A. Spector and his wife Bev, Constance Kellogg and her husband Curtis, Robert Spector and his wife Kathy, Gloria LaBarre, Tom Spector, Charles Spector, Sam Spector, Glenda Spector and Selise Spector as well as many great nieces and nephews. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Monday April 1, 2013 between 10:00 and 11:00am with the funeral service beginning at 11:00am at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic.
