Ruth E. Rettemeier

Ruth E. Rettenmeier, formerly of Sherman, CT died February 2, at Windham Hospital; she is at home with the Lord. A resident of Ashford, CT since 1997 she was the wife of John C. Rettenmeier. Born in Port Chester, NY in 1932 she was the daughter of the late Edna and Louis Barber of Rye, NY. She was a graduate of the Westchester Nursing School, Valhalla NY in 1953. Ruth served as secretary and bookkeeper for many boards and departments the Sherman Town Hall in the late 60 s and 70 s. She will be best remembered for her God given gift for leading Bible Studies in Sherman, Hertford, NC, Heritage Village Southbury, CT and Westford Congregational Church, Ashford, CT. She was also active with Project Linus while in Ashford. Beside her husband John, she is survived by her brother Raymond Barber, his wife Eileen of Rye, NY; two sons, John R. Rettenmeier, wife Karen, children Michael and Lindsay of Ashford CT; Louis C. Rettenmeier, wife Tracy, children John and Alison of Sherman CT; Daughter, Virginia (Ginger) of Cape Canaveral Florida. In addition to several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at the Westford Congregational Church, 368 Westford Hill Rd Ashford, CT. on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at 1:00pm. There are no calling hours. The family asks please in lieu of flowers donations in Ruth s memory be made to North Central Hospice, 8 Keynote Dr. Vernon, CT. 06066 or Westford Congregational Church, Ashford CT. 06278 Potter Funeral Home of Willimantic, CT assisted with the arrangements.
