Ruth E. Meade

Ruth E. Meade, 85, of Willimantic, died Wednesday January 2, 2002 in Windham. She was born September 19, 1916 in Willimantic, the daughter of Herbert and Mary (Hughes) Schenck and had lived in the Windham area most of her life. In her earlier years she was employed as a hairdresser and throughout her life loved and enjoyed nature and gardening. She is survived by a son and his wife, Daniel and Diane Meade of Hampton, 2 daughters, Barbara Karon of Mansfield Center and Janet Kaufhold of Washington, D.C., 5 grandchildren, Jennifer and Shannon Meade, Gerry Karon, Matthew and Martha Kaufhold, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Virginia Meade, a brother, Donald Schenck and a sister, Dorothy Schenck. Funeral services will be private with burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Coventry. Her family will receive friends TODAY from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte.195, 1/2 mile south of Rte. 6) Willimantic.
