Ruth Pride Maines Gates

Ruth Pride Maines Gates, widow of the late Harold A. Gates, died December 21, 2003 at the Windham Hospital. She was born the daughter of Estella and Frederick R. Pride of Portland, Maine, was educated in the Portland schools and was a member of the Westbrook Baptist Church in Westbrook, ME. She had lived in Hampton since 1956 where she and her husband owned and operated Miru Antiques for many years. She is survived by a son, William P. Maines of Hampton, 2 daughters, Barbra Pontes of Warren, RI and Nancy Smith of East Granby, a brother, John W. Pride of Worcester, MA, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Thomas H. Pride and Luther A. Pride. A memorial service will be held January 3, 2004 at 12:00 noon at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic. Burial will be in Hampton at the convenience of the family.
