Ruth H. Hahn

Ruth H. Hahn, 90, of Willimantic, died Thursday Jan. 7, 2010 at St. Joseph Living Center, Windham, where she received wonderful loving care from all of the staff for the past three years. She was born in Ridgewood, Queens, NY and has resided in Willimantic for many years. Ruth was a member of the First Congregational Church in Willimantic and had been active with Post #19 American Legion Auxiliary, Post #1724 VFW and the Color Guard. She was a retired State of Ct. employee from ECSU. One of the activities Ruth most enjoyed was dancing. She is survived by two daughters, Eileen Hahn of W. Hartford and Susan Garneau of Storrs; a sister Grace McLaren of Willimantic, a granddaughter Michele Sbona of Manchester , a great grandson Joey Sbona and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her loving companion Edward Shurtleff of Willimantic. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday Jan. 9th between 10:00 and 11:00am with the funeral service beginning at 11:00am at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Interment will then follow in New Willimantic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorial donations to American Diabetes Assoc.,306 Industrial Park Rd., Suite 105, Middletown, CT. 06457 or to American Heart Assoc. 1 Union St., Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691.
