Ruth Corey, 81, of Windham, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at St. Joseph Living Center. Ruth had resided at SJLC since 1989, one of the earliest residents admitted to the Living Center. She considered it her home, and the staff her family. She is survived by her longtime friend Patricia Maines, of Mansfield, as well as Patricia's sisters Judith Maines-Lamarre and Carol Morgan. All provided loving care and support to Ruth. She is also survived by a brother Howard (Anne) of Aberdeen, MD; and a brother Wilmot Bogue of New Preston. Ruth was also close to many staff members too numerous to acknowledge individually. Ruth loved all animals, especially dogs and the fish and birds who resided at the Center. She enjoyed old movies, collecting stuffed animals and, for many years while she was able, embroidering. Many staff received handmade embroidered bibs and blankets when Ruth knew a new arrival was on the way. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at St. Joseph Living Center on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 2 PM. Burial will be private at a later date. Memorial contributions in Ruth's memory may be made to SJLC, 14 Club Road, Windham CT 06280 for the Pet Therapy Fund.
