Ruth B. (Bowen) Coates, 94, of Dunellon, FL, formerly of Hebron, CT, widow of Paul L. Coates entered into eternal rest on Tuesday May 6, 2003 at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, FL. Ruth was born June 15, 1908 in Homer, IL. She lived in Hebron before her retirement in 1973 from the Travelers Insurance Co. in Hartford upon which she moved to Florida. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church which had a great influence on her life. She taught for many years in the children's division as well as leading out in vacation bible school. In Florida she was an active member of the Women's Community Club of Rainbow Lakes Estates and served as historian. She was a member of the Stamp Club and enjoyed playing shuffleboard. She is survived by her sister, Helen Harris of Fort Lauderdale, FL, her grandchildren, Sheila (Coates) Carrigan, whom she raised, and her husband Denis of Windsor Locks, CT, Tommy Coates of Jacksonville, FL, Lynn (Coates) McEwen of Elyria, OH, Gwen (Coates) Jutko of Selma, AL, Rob Coates of Florida, 11 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic. Burial will be private in the New Hebron Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
