Ruth L. Blay, 84, of Scotland, wife of Clayton Blay, died Saturday April 23, 2005 at their home. She was born April 16, 1921 in Waterbury, the daughter of Paul and Lillian (Adkins) Garthwait and had lived in Lebanon and Vermont for many years before moving to Scotland. She was employed at the former Electro-Motive Mfg. Co. in Willimantic and most recently at Ridges Outlet, also in Willimantic. She enjoyed various crafts, gardening and sewing. In addition to her husband she is survived by 4 sons and daughters-in-law, John and Dawn Drum of Lebanon, Francis and Susan Drum of Colchester, Ron and Barbara Drum of Lebanon, Richard and Barbara Drum of Scotland, a brother, William Garthwait of Windsor, a sister, Lillian Kablik of Lebanon, a sister-in-law, Velma Garthwait of Lebanon, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Russell Drum and 2 brothers, Donald and Kenneth Garthwait. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Wednesday from 6 :00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the New Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon.
