Russell Rogers, 79, most recently of Douglas Manor, died Friday in the loving care of the staff whom he loved in return. He was predeceased by his parents, Russell Sr. and Jessie Curran Rogers as well as 3 siblings, David, Thelma and Mildred. He is survived by a cousin, Elizabeth J. Millerd Rich and other sub-generational members of her family. He was born and raised in Willimantic and was part of the area's color. He will best be remembered for his love of newspapers and the wagon he carried them in. Russell was a gentle, loving man who bore his life's trials with a special dignity. After the demise of his mother, much of his adult life was spent in various facilities, many of which were in the Willimantic area. He never forgot anyone who touched his life in a positive manner and often spoke of them. One of Russell?s great pleasures was receiving cards. For those who wish to honor his memory, send a greeting card to someone who thinks they've been forgotten. There are no calling hours and burial arrangements will be at the discretion of his family.
