Russell B. Korner, 80, of Coventry, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2010 in East Hartford. He was born in Willimantic, son of the late Frederick and Florence (Brown) Korner. Russell lived in South Windsor for many years and spent his last years in Coventry. He had been employed at the University of Connecticut and D&M Construction Company. Russell served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He loved watching the UConn Women's Basketball Team and New York Yankees baseball games. Russell is survived by three children, Russell Jr., Walter and Lisa; three sisters, Janet Boudreau and her husband Raymond of West Hartford, Shirley Zemek and her husband Thomas of Merrow and Priscilla "Pat" Korner of East Hartford; two brothers, Ronald Korner of Willington and Sidney Korner of Merrow, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Walter, Harold and Raymond and a niece Kimberly Boudreau. Russell's family is grateful for the care and compassion of the staff at East Hartford Health Care and Vitas Hospice Care in Glastonbury. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in the Storrs Cemetery.
