Rudolph A. Passarello

Rudolph A. Passarello, 84, of Scotland, husband of the late Clarice (Bush) Passarello, died on Monday, August 8, 2011, at Windham Hospital after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 10, 1927 in New York City the son of Steve and Catherine (Giannito) Passarello. His family moved from New York City to Scotland in 1929 to begin life on a poultry farm. His passion was raising poultry and he continued to maintain his family's poultry farm throughout his life. He graduated from Windham High School in 1945. In 1947, he helped create what was to become the Scotland Volunteer Fire Department. He married Clarice in 1954 and they began raising their family on their own homestead in Scotland. He was one of the first school bus owner/operators for the Town of Scotland Public School System and provided transportation for the children of Scotland throughout the 50's, 60's and 70's. He also, worked at the Scotland General Store during this same time period. In 1966, he began working for the United States Postal Service as a postal clerk and retired in 1990 after 24 years of service. In 2007, he was honored by the Connecticut Poultry Association, Inc. for his dedication to the poultry industry for more than 60 years. He is survived by four children, Tom Passarello of Canterbury, Dominic Passarello and his wife Gail of Scotland, James Passarello of Scotland and Kathleen Romeo and her husband Michael of Storrs; his grandchildren, Joseph Passarello, Jason Passarello, Nikia Passarello, Dominic "DJ" Passarello, Jr., Dante Romeo, Gianni Romeo and Sofia Romeo and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas Passarello and Angelo Passarello and his sisters, Lillian Petti and Josephine Passarello. His family will receive friends on Friday, August 12th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 13th at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic with assembly at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to St. Joseph Church Renovation Fund, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic, CT 06226 and the Scotland Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
