Rudolph F. Makray

Rudolph (Rudy) Makray, 88, of Ashford, Ct died peacefully surrounded by his family May 10, 2016. Rudy was born in New York City, July 11, 1927 to his parents Geza and Amelia Makray who were originally from Hungary.?The family moved to Ashford during the great depression in 1930. Rudy has lived?his life in Ashford. He is survived by his loving?wife Caroline of 62 years; his daughters, Kathy and Rob, Linda and Paul, Dona; granddaughter, Carrie; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Larissa, Emily, Jacob, Ben; great great grandchildren, Jace, Jennifer and Autumn; Rudy also leaves behind his sister Eva and many cousins, nephews, nieces and special friends and of course his special four legged dog "Tina Marie". He is predeceased by his son Rudy Jr., two granddaughters, Amy and Jennifer and son in law Richard as well as his sister, Gloria. Rudy was a graduate of Ashford's one room school house. He also attended Windham Schools. He joined the Army in 1946. In 1947 he went to Japan with The Army of Occupation. Rudy served in many capacities to the Town of Ashford. He was Grand Juror, President and member of Ashford Fire Dept, First Selectman for 2 terms, zoning enforcement officer, bus driver. He was a scout leader when first boy scout was organized in 1950. Rudy also owned and operated a poultry farm which often turned into a family affair. He retired after 20 years of service to?U.S Postal service. He fixed TVs and radios. Rudy was an outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting, snowmobiling?and just walking through the woods. He loved mother nature and all her creatures.
