Royce Loomis Hollister, 89, of Coventry, beloved husband of 51 years to Carolyn (Hill) Hollister, died Sunday November 3, 2013. He was born in Manchester, CT on January 28, 1924, the son of Charles and Virginia (Loomis) Hollister. He was a devoted and kind husband, father and grandfather. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as an aviation mechanic in Pensacola, Florida. Following the war he was employed at Pratt and Whitney for 35 years in their experimental sheet metal department. Besides being able to fix just about anything, he enjoyed many hobbies including building and repairing violins, jewelry making, camping and enjoyed the outdoors. Besides his parents, Royce was predeceased by his brother Charles and his sisters Phyllis Shay and Shirley Oste. Royce is survived by his wife Carolyn of Coventry; his daughter and son-in-law Charlotte and Robert Sernoffsky of Coventry; grandchildren Griffin and Julia Sernoffsky and his sister Arlene Petty of Bakersfield, CA and many nieces and nephews. Royce was a kind, generous and loving man to all and will be greatly missed. There are no calling hours.
