Roy C. Hooks

Hooks, Roy C. Papa , 73, of Windham went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 2, 2006. Born August 2, 1932 in Fremont, North Carolina to the late Lena and John Henry Hooks. Roy and his family migrated to Connecticut in 1963. After many years of service to Acorn Construction, Roy retired and returned to Greensboro, North Carolina where he lived for 15 years before returning to Connecticut to live in Windham. Papa loved to fish and often took his daughter and other family and friends. If there isn t fishing in heaven, we are sure there will be now. Roy is survived by his brother Edgar Lee Hooks and devoted sister Vernice Hooks, both of Windham. He is predeceased by his sister Betty Jean Fields and his brother John Frank Hooks. He leaves behind his sons, Anthony Hooks (Denise) of New Britain, Hoyle Moore (Norma) of East Hartford, and his daughters, Brenda Chester (Joseph) of Bloomfield, Marilyn Khokhar of East Hartford, Sandra Holloway (Fred) of Tampa, Florida, Julianne Tillman (Robert) of Hartford, a devoted and beloved granddaughter Nishana Moore whom he raised as his own, twenty-eight grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Papa as he was so lovingly called will always remain close to our hearts and never far from our memories. Papa we will meet you in Glory! Papa s Homegoing Celebration will be on Tuesday, February 7 where his family will receive friends at the Potter s Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street in Willimantic. Calling hours will be from 10:00 11:00 am with the Homegoing Celebration service immediately following from 11:00 -12:00. Papa will be laid to rest at New Willimantic Cemetery. A Homegoing Celebration repast will be held at the Knights of Columbus Council #14, 41 Club Road in Willimantic immediately following interment.
