Roy P. Gerard

May 30, 1945 — September 21, 2014

Gerard P Roy Jr., "Jerry", died on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at the age of 69. He was born in Fostoria, OH to the late Gerard Sr. and Betty Benson Roy. Jerry proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Playing Banjo was a passion for Jerry. He started late in life and with lessons from Kevin Pearl at Beller's Music in Manchester. Last August Jerry had a stroke and his music lessons were on hold. He would still travel to Beller's for a visit waiting for the day he could play again. Jerry's favorite place was The Connecticut Eastern Railroad Museum, which sits on the historical "Columbia Junction" freight yard site on Bridge St. in Willimantic. He loved trains as a boy which followed him to adulthood. Jerry was a very active member and there is no place he would rather be than at the museum. Jerry was a kind gentle soul that will be missed by all. Jerry is survived by his sister Barbara Morrison and her husband Wayne A. Morrison Sr.; nephews, Wayne A. Morrison Jr. and his wife Nola, Jason E. Morrison and his fiancAC. Christianne Wolfson, and niece Kelly A Teixeira and her husband Anthony and their son Matthew. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations can be made to the Connecticut Eastern Railroad Museum P.O. Box 665 Willimantic, CT 06226-0665.
