Rose H. Lavigne, 96, of Windham, formerly of Mansfield, died Saturday, September 24, 2005 in Windham. She was born July 8, 1909 in Willimantic, the daughter of George and Dena (Gagnon) Lavigne. She had lived in Philadelphia for many years, returning to Willimantic in 1991 where she was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. She was a graduate of St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing and served 30 years as a Navy nurse, retiring in 1968 with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Upon her retirement she taught ballet at Cowanova Studio of Dance in Philadelphia for 20 years and was a member of the Dance Masters Association of America. She is survived by a nephew Kerman Lavigne and his wife Wendy of Columbia, a niece, Jerilyn Horton of Richardson, TX, several grand and great grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Kerman Lavigne Sr. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to the procession to her Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. at St. Columba Church, Columbia, Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham.
