Signorina Rose Ferro Guarnaccia, 95, passed away at Windham Hospital on November 3, 2005. Born January 9, 1910 to the late Vincenzo and the late Caroline (D Anzi) Ferro, Rose spent her early years in New York City, Jewett City, and Mansfield. She was married for fifty-seven years to the late Giacomo J. Guarnaccia Sr. They made their home in Mansfield where they raised their family. Together, they owned and operated Eagle Beverage Co., Jack s Laundry, and the Church Street Package Store all of which were operated from their building on the corner of Church and Valley Streets in Willimantic. After her retirement in 1969, Rose began her second career teaching cooking and caning in the Windham and Mansfield Adult Education programs. She was also an active volunteer at St. Joseph s Church where she worked bingo on Friday nights, at the Covenant Soup Kitchen and at WAIM. For more than thirty years she taught catechism at St. Joseph Church. She was active in the St. Joseph Women s Club and served as it s President. Rose was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing her crops with her many friends and family. Rose is survived by her daughter Rosaria Insalaco of Lebanon; her sons Dr. Vincent Guarnaccia and his wife Virginia of Mason Michigan and Attorney Giacomo J. Guarnaccia, Jr. and his wife Louise of Mansfield; daughter-in-law Joan Guarnaccia Garneau of Westbrook; her sisters Sara Tormey and Nancy Hall both of Mansfield; seventeen grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son Salvatore Guarnaccia; and her sisters Mary Guarnaccia, Angelina Bovino, and Madeline Pascuzzi. The family wishes to thank the staff of the St. Joseph s Living Center for six years of loving care to Rose. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Tuesday between 8:30 and 9:00am prior to her 9:30am Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. At the request of the family, please omit flowers.
