Rose Marie Elizabeth (Michaud) Gauvin, 73, of Scotland, wife of Joseph E. Gauvin, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the Windham Hospital. She was born January 20, 1938 in Willimantic, the daughter of Laurette Roberts Michaud Dubreuil of Storrs and the late Alphonse Michaud. She attended St. Mary's School in Willimantic where she was a bugler in the Drum and Bugle Corps where she met her future husband. She was a graduate of Windham High School and a lifelong member of the Scotland Volunteer Fire Department serving as an EMT and on the Fire Police. Prior to her retirement in 2001 she had been employed at Electromotive Mfg. Co., the American Thread Co. and Brand Rex Wire and Cable where she was account manager for military sales. She enjoyed singing, crafts flower gardening but most of all spending time with her family. In addition to her mother and husband of 55 years, she is survived by two daughters, Michelle Kolomyjec and her husband Romeo of Mansfield, Renee Boyden and her husband Kenneth of Scotland, a sister, Linda Surridge and her husband Stephen of Virginia, two sisters-in-law, Beverly Michaud of Hampton and Beatrice Michaud of Lebanon, five grandchildren, Joseph and Jared Kolomyjec and Daniel, James and Andrew Boyden, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a two brothers, Raymond Michaud and Roger Michaud. Her family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, September 25, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic. A memorial service will be held Monday, September 26th at 6:30 p.m. at the Christian Fellowship Church, Rte. 97, Scotland. Burial will be private in St. Mary's Cemetery, Baltic.
