Rose A. Cushman

Rose A. (Busse) Cushman, Knollwood Acres, Storrs, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2011, at home, with her family at her bedside after a short battle with cancer. She was born at Hartford Hospital on October 10, 1932. She was the daughter of Frances Lockwood Busse, and Susan (Hattin) Busse. She worked as a waitress and housekeeper and has been retired for almost 20 years after working for many years as a custodian for UConn in the Montieth Building. She loved gardening and playing many games with friends and family. All who knew her understood that things would be done her way, which played out true to form until the morning she passed. She leaves behind four children, Michael of Mansfield, CT, Donna Bragg of Bangor, ME, Debbie Gobin and her husband Pete of North Windham, CT and Joseph also of Mansfield, three sisters Ruth Nik, Ida Lussier and Pearl Dziekan. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Janice, a son Louis, and two brothers Otto and Francis. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the American Cancer Society in the name of Rose Cushman. A family memorial gathering is pending.
