Ronald N. Babcock, 59, of Lebanon, died Wednesday June 1, 2005, surrounded by his children at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London,. He was born September 9, 1945 in New Brunswick, Maine, the son of the late Nelson and Anita (Bouchard) Babcock and had lived in Lebanon most of his life. He was a graduate of Lyman Memorial High School in Lebanon and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his stint in the Navy, Ronald joined the National Guard based at AVCRAD and his unit was activated for participation in Operation Desert Storm. He was an avid coin and stamp collector and also a music and history buff. He was predeceased by the mother of his children and the love of his life, Brenda Jean Birtles. He is survived by 5 children, Steven of Coventry, Stacie of South Windsor, Shannon of Hebron, Tabetha of Putnam and Eric of Lebanon, 10 grandchildren, Jason, Sarah, Derrick, Seth, Amanda, Elizabeth, Katelynn, Abigail, Emily and Elijah and a great granddaughter, Destinie. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be private with burial in the New Lebanon Cemetery.
