Roland E. Syphers

Roland E. Syphers, 68, of Chaplin, husband of Pauline (Tambornini) Syphers, died Sunday evening Nov. 30, 2003 at home. He was born Nov. 26, 1935 in Willimantic the son of the late Gilbert and Albia (Fontaine) Syphers. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had been employed by the State of Ct. for many years prior to being employed by the Storrs Congregational Church. Roland enjoyed reading and completing crossword puzzles. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Stephen of Chaplin, a brother Gilbert of Hebron, 2 sisters; Dorothy Shirghio and Lorraine Hope both of Willimantic and several nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte.195) Willimantic on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00pm. His Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 11:30am at St. Mary's Church, Valley St. Willimantic, with assembly at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial donations to Hospice of Eastern CT., 34 Ledgebrook Dr., Mansfield Center, Ct. 06250.
