Roland Reynolds Obituary
Roland E. Reynolds, 92, lifelong resident of Coventry, CT passed away peacefully on January 8, 2023 in his home on land that he lived his life on & farmed.
Roland operated a dairy farm of his own and partnered with his family farming land that has been in the family for six generations. Much of this land is presently preserved for agricultural use, of this he was very proud. Roland (Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa) was a hardworking, humble man who loved his family, farm and animals (not necessarily in that order). He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by four daughters, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren: Debbie and Joe Farrell, Corey and Mandy, Linda and Peter Peila, Lacy, Roland, Kelly and Emma, Susan Fritz, Kayla, Kyle, Evelyn, Anders (Stromberg) and Jakob, Kathy and Grant Bombria, Ashley, Grant and Katie. Also, by Cylo and Reb, his faithful canine companions. In Roland’s most recent years this trio spent most days walking on and enjoying the land. He is additionally survived by several in-laws, nieces, nephews and a special nephew, Gary.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth (Mellady) of 62 years. Roland devotedly cared for her at home for several years after an illness until the time of her passing. He was also predeceased by a sister, Katherine Wadsworth and brothers John and David.
The family would like to thank the HHC at home Hospice of Mansfield, especially Lori and Holly, for their support and caring these past months.
“Sometimes this old farm feels like a long-lost friend”. His family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 10:00am to 10:45am at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic, CT. His graveside service will follow 11:30am at St. Mary Cemetery, 386 Main St. Coventry. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Connecticut Farmland Trust, 77 Buckingham St, Hartford CT 06106
