Obituary

Roland G. Meunier, Sr., 87, passed away on July 16, 2026, at Windham Hospital surrounded by his loving family. A longtime resident of Mansfield, Roland was born in Providence, RI, to the late Leon and Jeannette (Duquette) Meunier.

Roland was a graduate of Coventry High School (RI), where he met his lifelong love, Linda Kite. Roland had a long career as a Linotype Operator with the Hartford Courant, where he was recognized as a member of the Thomas Green Club for having more than 25 years of service.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Linda Meunier; they would have celebrated 67 years of marriage on 8/10/26. They were blessed with two sons and a daughter, Roland G. Meunier, Jr. (Gisele), Robert B. Meunier (Bonnie), and Cheryl Calderado (Michael). He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren, Danielle, Jackson, and Lian Meunier, Krystin Calderado Miller, Megan Calderado, and Hannah Meunier. He also was thrilled to have two great grandsons, Calvin and Max Miller. He was predeceased by his sister, Doris Forsman.

An avid sports fan who enjoyed all sports, he was especially proud to be fan of the Hartford Whalers, a lifelong fan of the Red Sox, and a loyal follower of UCONN basketball. He especially enjoyed watching the UCONN women’s basketball games with Linda. He also valued his many years of tee times with his son, Rob.

Over the years, Roland enjoyed collecting and dealing in baseball card and sports memorabilia. He also enjoyed all of his extensive travels with Linda, summers in Charlestown, RI, and winters in North Port, FL.

Calling hours will be from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, 7/22/26, at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street, Willimantic, CT. A service in celebration of his life will be held at 10 am on Thursday, 7/23/26 at Potter Funeral Home, followed by a burial at The Pink Cemetery, Bone Mill Road, Mansfield, CT.
