Roland Dunham Eaton passed away peacefully August 29, 2015 in Stockton, CA. He left this world to be in a better place, free from pain to walk with the angels, and be with his wife Mary-Ann Eaton who preceded him in death in 2000. The only child of James T. Eaton and Lillian Dunham, he was born September 9, 1925 in Mansfield Center, CT. Roland was a lifelong resident of Mansfield Center, CT, until his move to California for health reasons. He spent his life running a dairy farm (Eaton Farm), driving a school bus, being an auxiliary State Trooper out of Troop C Stafford Springs barracks. He then had the security and maintenance contract at East Brook Mall in Mansfield Center. Roland was a hardworking man, who worked hard and played hard. He built his home in Mansfield Center with his own hands, he milked the cows three times a day, was a devoted husband to Mary, and father to his daughters. He leaves behind to mourn his loss three daughters, Tammy LaTeano of Suffield, CT, Dariel White of Sacramento, CA, and Carole Spring of Stockton, CA; 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Roland had a special bond with his grandson Troy Smith and Troy's son Joshua Smith who helped care for him the last five years in California, along with all of his caregivers. Although Roland never had a son, Romeo Kolomyjec was always there for him throughout the years and held a special place in Roland's heart. The family will receive friends at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic, CT Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 10:00am, with a Service at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Mansfield Center Cemetery.
