Roland Joseph Cyr Sr., 87, was called home on Sunday, July 19th, 2015. His wife of sixty-two years, Betty A. Cyr was by his side. Roland was born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont in 1927, to Alfonse and Marie Ann Cyr, the youngest of seven children. He served in the United States Army in the Korean War, in which he delivered supplies to the frontline. He married his long time love Betty A. Cyr on February 14th, 1953. They were blessed with six children, twenty-one grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Roland is a retiree of Pratt and Whitney, where he worked for twenty-six years as a tool-setter. His biggest accomplishment is his family, who will miss him dearly. He is predeceased by his oldest son, Roland Cyr Jr., his grandson, Timothy James Cyr, his daughter-in-law, Helen Cyr, granddaughter Virginia Cyr, his brothers: Albert, Alphonse and Normand and sisters: Florence, Jennette and Rita. He is survived by beloved wife Betty of sixty-two wonderful years; daughter in law Susan Cyr, three sons, Roger and wife Patricia, Mark, David and his wife Diana and two daughters Cheryl Ausburger and her husband Greg, and Michelle Charafeddine and her husband Mohamad as well as 21 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. . A funeral mass will be celebrated at St Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St, Willimantic, CT 06226, on Monday, July 27th, 2015 at 10:00am. Military honors and a coffee hour will follow the mass.
