Roger Hart Obituary
Roger E. Hart, 77, of Willimantic, passed away on January 21, 2024 surrounded by loving family, after a recent diagnosis of cancer.  He was born in Hartford, CT to the late Raymond and Jeanne (Noonan) Hart. He graduated from Transylvania University in Lexington, KY with a degree in early childhood education and began his career teaching in the Simsbury school system. Roger went on to become a Logistics Engineer and worked for Service Merchandise, Schneider Trucking Co. and retired from the automotive division of General Motors.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Jolene A. (Wojick) Hart; two sons, Brandon E. Hart and Beth Ollie of Middletown and Michael B. Hart and Jessica Vasile of Newington; along with three grandchildren Brandon M. Hart of Middletown, Alexis (Hart) Coon and husband Will Coon of Middletown, and Adriana Romano of Newington.  He is also survived by his sister Jeanne (Hart) and brother-in-law, Bill Rhoades of North Carolina and brother Greg Hart and sister-in-law Debbie Hart of North Carolina, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, Roger's wife’s extended family, and many close friends.

Roger's hobbies included boating and restoring antique wooden boats with his co-captain, Vinnie DiCioccio. He was also an amazing gardener, model railroader, photographer, as well as an avid reader and wonderful cook. He loved being on the water with friends and family and will be dearly missed by all. Roger had a big heart and always offered a helping hand when the opportunity arose.

The family would like to thank the staff at Windham and Backus Hospitals for their excellent care and are so appreciative for all those that visited, wrote a kind word, and sent prayers.

Friends and relatives are welcome to join the family on Friday, February 2nd at 11:00 am, at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic, CT, 06226. A funeral service will begin at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice or do an act of kindness in Roger’s memory.
