Robert L. Winchester, 72, of Norwich, passed away Monday, June 6, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer at Village Manor in Plainfield. He was born on November 14, 1938, in Norwich, CT, the son of the late Robert Winchester and Madeline Williams Winchester. He was drafted and served in the Army stationed at Fort Dix in New Jersey. He worked for the State of Connecticut as well as New Penn, retiring from those jobs to commercially lobster on the Trina Jean out of Groton, CT. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time with his two grandsons who affectionately called him Kip. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Mark Barrus of Voluntown, CT, two grandsons, Robert and Kasey, his son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Sandy Winchester, his sister, Agnes "Bunny" Hoxsie of Preston, and his two brothers, James Winchester and Daniel Winchester, Sr., both of Norwich.
