Robert Sennick Obituary
Robert R. Sennick, of Willimantic, fondly known as 'Ikey' to his friends, passed away on August 5, 2023. He was born on November 24, 1948, in Stamford, CT to Leo and Grace (Soloway) Sennick. After graduating from J.M. Wright Technical School in Stamford, Ikey served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He then moved to Willimantic where he remained after retiring from his career as a machine operator at Brand Rex. He led a vibrant life filled with laughter, camaraderie, and a love of sport and leisure.
Ikey was known for his love of pool, darts, and golf. He could often be found at the local VFW, engaged in boisterous conversation and competition with his fellow veterans and friends. He found much joy in the company of friends, sharing stories and laughter.
He is predeceased by his parents; siblings, David Henry Sennick, John William Sennick, Joyce Anne Decyk, and his nephew, David Leo Sennick. He leaves behind his loving children, Bob, Keith, and Melanie; his brother Paul D. Sennick and his wife Susan Pember, his sister Ellen A. Shirshac and her husband Randy Shirshac, along with nephews Marc R. Sennick and his wife Jennifer, as well as David Leo's wife Lee-Ann Sennick, Michael L. Shirshac, Leo G. Logan, his niece Ashley M. Logan, as well as by many other nieces, nephews, and his grandchildren.
His family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the caregivers, first responders, and medical professionals who have helped him over the last several years. Their professionalism and compassion have provided a measure of comfort during this difficult time.
Ikey lived his life with determination, strength, loyalty, and love. His passing leaves a void that will be hard to fill. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate his life, a life lived with perseverance, sacrifice, and a good-hearted nature that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Visiting hours will be held at 9 am on Thursday, August 10th, 2023, at Potter Funeral Home in Willimantic with a short service will follow. Internment at Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family.
