Obituary for Robert W. Pfeffer, VMD Robert William Pfeffer, 80, of Mansfield Center, CT, passed away peacefully at home on October 13, 2013, surrounded by his family. A beloved husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Bob is survived by his wife of 34 years, Patrice; his children with his first wife Margaret: Laurie, Curt, Julie, Barbara; and his children with Patrice: Mioara and Livie; his grandchildren John, Samantha, Steven, Keith, Carson, and Xavier; his great-grandchildren Abigail and Peyton; his sister Delores, brother-in-laws Fred and Greg, sister-in-laws Diane, Jeannie, and Tracey; and his faithful companion, Shiloh. Bob was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late William E. and Catherine R. Pfeffer on January 4, 1933. His family moved to Perkasie, PA early in his life where he attended Sellersville High School. Bob completed his undergraduate studies at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa and earned his VMD from the University of Pennsylvania in 1958. His veterinary career spanned 36 years and ended in 1994 when he retired from his East Brook Veterinary Hospital in Willimantic, CT. He was a compassionate and caring veterinarian beloved by his four-legged patients and their companions. Bob enjoyed sailing, gardening, and traveling with his family. He was a Civil War buff who visited many battlefields during his lifetime. After retiring, he volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, eventually becoming the president of the local chapter. A private memorial service will be held for family and friends at his home in November. The Potter Funeral Home, Willimantic assisted with arrangements.
