Robert F. Parkin, 71, of North Windham, formerly of Lindenhurst, Long Island, husband of Patricia (Coughlin) Parkin, died Monday July 18, 2005 in Windham of injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born May 16, 1934 in Manhattan, NY, the son of the late Samuel and Hilda (Full) Parkin and had lived in Lindenhurst for many years before moving to Connecticut 2 years ago. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a building inspector by the New York City Housing Preservation Authority. Mr. Parkin was an avid Railroad train and model hobbyist. In addition to his wife he is survived by 5 children, Bernadette Watkins of Windsor, Brian Parkin of Yonkers, NY, James Parkin of Mansfield Center, Dennis Parkin of West Islip, NY, Kevin Parkin of Copiague, NY, 3 sisters, Kathleen Mangilomini of East Islip, NY, Anne Anderson of Central Islip, NY, Mary Weiner of Rockledge, FL, 3 brothers, Edward Parkin of Lindenhurst, L.I., James Parkin of Charleston, RI, Richard Parkin of Ronkonkoma, NY, 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Friday at 9:15 a.m. prior to the procession to his Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Willimantic.
