Robert S. McCrewell, 79 of South Windham, beloved husband for 44 years to Nancy (Stephens) McCrewell, passed into eternal rest on April 9, 2018 surrounded by his family. Robert was born in Willimantic on July 14, 1938 to the late James T. McCrewell, Sr. and Emily (McCrewell) Trower. He was a loving father and friend as well as a long time employee of McCallum Motors (Roy Auto Parts) of Willimantic. He served in the CT National Guard, 169th Infantry 2nd BG in Willimantic. He was a loyal Mason, member of Ashlar #19 F. & A. M. of North Windham for many years. He loved listening to jazz, Dave Brubeck and Diana Krall. He played flute for many years and was a member of the Willimantic Cadets, playing music in cemeteries for Military Honors when he was young. He was a man who always had a story, but was never boring and was the loudest UCONN Women?s Basketball fan. Besides his wife Nancy, he is survived by his son Kevin McCrewell, Sr. and his wife Laurie of Willington, sons Michael and Stephen McCrewell of South Windham, his sister Carol T. Harris and her husband Keltz of Hampton, his nephew Keltz V. Harris of Waterford, nieces Jen and Kelly Richards of Tolland, his grandchildren Alexandra, Kevin Jr. and Brody along with several cousins. He is predeceased by his brother James T. McCrewell, Sr. Visitation will be Friday, April 13 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic and the burial with military honors in Windham Center Cemetery to follow.
