Robert T. MacDonald, 79, of Willington died Wednesday (November 9, 2005) at Saint Francis Hospital. He was born Robert T. Mack, Jr. July 20, 1926 in Hartford to Julia (Poscher) Mack and Robert T. Mack. He grew up in Wethersfield and entered the United States Navy in July 1943 and was honorably discharged as a Motor Machinist Mate 2nd Class in April 1946. In March of 1948, Robert had his name changed to Robert T. MacDonald, reclaiming the family name. He married Helen E. Rogers of Avon, Connecticut on May 15, 1948 and they lived in Willington most of their married life, where they had a family farm. Robert was employed by the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation and retired in 1979 as a District Equipment Inspector. During his life Robert was a Member of the Willington Hill Fire Department, a Mason at Uriel Lodge #24 AF&AM of Merrow, Ct, a member of the Corporal Henry Toberman VFW Post #938 of Willington, and Willington Planning and Zoning Appeals Board. Robert also enjoyed fishing and was a life member of the Massachusetts Beach Buggy Assn. His wife Helen passed away in 2001. Robert is survived by his sister Jane Broussard, his cousins Billie M. Fornal and Alfred Mack, his daughter Liesa Sienkowski and her husband John, his daughter Rebecca Kimbrough and her husband Anthony and his son Keith and his wife Jane. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. A Memorial Service with Masonic and VFW Honors will be held at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street,(Rte. 195) Willimantic, on Saturday November 19, 2005 at 3:00 pm, with visiting hours from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
