Robert C. Lawrence

Robert (Bob) Clark Lawrence passed away after a period of extended illness on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Storrs, CT, where he spent many happy years. Bob was born in Orange, New Jersey on February 24, 1926 to Meredith F. and Virginia C. Lawrence. Bob was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was a graduate of Denison University in Granville, OH, and a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He was Past Master of the George M. Dallas Masonic Lodge #531 in Dallas, PA, and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. Bob was a former Vice President of United Penn Bank in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He was a Chartered Life Underwriter, founder of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of CLU, 2-term President of the Shrine Club of Greater Wilkes-Barre, PA and 2-term President of the Susquehanna River Basin Association. Bob was a seasoned skier, and a member of the Shawnee Mountain Ski Patrol, in East Stroudsburg, PA in the Pocono Mountains. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed many happy years at his cottage in the Adirondacks. He had a curious and active mind, and enjoyed extensive reading, particularly in history. He sang in a barbershop quartet, and loved music all of his life. Bob is preceded by his wife, Marjorie Scovel, and his second wife, Eleanor Williams. He is survived by his daughter Amy V. Rodgers and her sons Travis and Benjamin, his daughter Katherine L. Roth, her husband Gary and their sons Jacob and Benjamin, his daughter Martha Lawrence-Hawley and her husband David, his step-daughter Lois Clark and her husband Jim, his step-son David Reichard and his family, and Rhett, his favorite dog. Funeral services for Bob will be held at the Oak Lawn Cemetery chapel in Hanover Township, Pennsylvania at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2015.
