Robert Fredenberg

Robert Fredenberg, 80, of South Windsor, formerly of Columbia, husband of the late Madeline (Kelley) Fredenberg, was taken into the loving arms of God on Friday June 3, 2011 after a long courageous battle as a stroke victim. He was born March 16, 1931 in Allendale, NJ the son of the late Robert and Rilla (Fischer) Fredenberg. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Fredenberg was a retired executive from Western Union and ITT. He was an avid golfer, a UConn women's basketball fan and a volunteer at St. Joseph Living Center. He is survived by his daughter who will dearly miss him, Lynn A. Jones and her husband Alexander of S. Windsor; three beloved grandchildren, Megan Weeks and her husband Jesse of Princeton, MA, Brian Jones and his fiancee Elizabeth Fogarty of S. Windsor and Gary Jones and his wife Shanna of S. Portland, ME; three sisters in law, Laurene Fredenberg of Lincolnton, NC, Catherine St. Laurent of W. Hartford and Leda Kelley of SC; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Bill and a sister Florence. His family will receive relatives and friends on Monday June 6th between 5:00 and 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:15 prior to the procession to his 11:00am Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St., Willimantic. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. Memorial donations may be made to The Hole In The Wall Gang Fund, 555 Long Warf Dr., New Haven, CT. 06511.
