Robert F. Demers

Robert F. Demers, 63, of South Windham, died Friday June 13, 2003 at his home after a long illness. He was born September 22, 1939 in Windham, the son of the late Viola and Francis Demers of Columbia. He was a long time member of the Eagleville Volunteer Fire Department and was employed for many years by the University of Connecticut Fire Department, retiring December 1, 1989. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle (Roy) Demers, 2 daughters, Lori Nye of Mansfield and Robin Ackles of Uncasville, 4 brothers and a sister, Thomas, Gary, Peter, Richard and Patricia Demers of Columbia, 5 grandchildren, Jessica Rivard-Nye, Vicki Nye, Jason, Alan and Steven Briggs, 2 great grandchildren, Noah and Caroline, many nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend William Bartholomew officiating.
