Robert Coombs Obituary
Robert “Bob” A. Coombs, 85, of Columbia, CT passed away on August 15, 2021. He was born in Norwich, CT, the son of the late Harvey and Dorothy (Harrington) Coombs.
Bob was an automotive mechanic at Collins garage for about 40 years. He loved cars and enjoyed watching NASCAR on Sunday afternoons. He was a gentle soul who accepted life as it came. Robert found great joy in feeding his birds, taking his beloved Shetland sheepdog, Sonny, for rides in the Honda CR-V and mowing the lawn. He enjoyed family barbecues. Bob was a very family-oriented person who loved with his whole heart. He was very proud of the time he served in the United States Army.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Benay Smith; sons, Chris Coombs and his wife, Toni, Cory Coombs and his companion, Heidy Parra, and his “adopted” son Matt Smith; grandchildren Brittany, Haley, Jaxon, another on the way, Ryleigh, and Claire and Tyler.
