Dr. Robert T. Burnham, 60, died Saturday, August 20, 2011 at his home in Columbia CT. He was born November 18, 1950 in New York City, the son of Robert T. and Eleanor (Wagner) Burnham, who predeceased him. He was a long-time resident of Columbia. Bob graduated magna cum laude from Iona College in 1972 and received a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from St. John's University in 1981. He had a private practice in psychology associated with the Hartford Center for Psychotherapy and he served on the consulting staff at Hartford Hospital. Bob specialized in psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy for adolescents and adults and practiced for more than 35 years. He was a member of the American Psychological Association and the Connecticut Psychological Association. He is survived by his stepdaughters, Heather Durham, Portland OR and Rebecca Durham Whithed (husband Matthew Whithed and daughter Emaline), Corvallis MT. He leaves a sister Victoria Andrews (husband Michael), Levittown NY, and two brothers, Gregory (wife Leland), Princeton NJ and Geoffrey (wife Susan), Endicott NY. Kevin J. Burnham, brother, predeceased him. He will be sorely missed by his stepdaughters, his siblings, and his many patients and close friends, including Megan Berube, Amber Lee, and Ivette Perez.
