Robert K. "Brooksie" Brooks, 79, of Windham, passed to eternal life on Wednesday April 21, 2010 after a long courageous battle with his health. He was born in New London on Nov. 22, 1930 the son of the late Harry and Agnes (Mark) Brooks. He was raised in Ashford and served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1949 to 1953. Brooksie had been employed by Northeast Utilities, Line Dept. in Willimantic, retiring in 1992. He is survived by a loving son Scott Brooks and his wife Elsa of Tegucigalpa, Honduras; a devoted and faithful daughter Tracy Brooks-Szegda, her husband David and the adored grandchildren Cole and Kelly Szegda of Columbia. He loved being a "grandpa". He is also survived by Audrey Shea, with whom he shared his life and love for the past 35 years; a brother Burt Hobby of E. Lyme, a sister in law Judy Brooks of Vernon, several nieces and nephews including a favorite, Ellen Brooks, who brought joy and laughter into his life. He was predeceased by a brother Jerome Brooks and sisters Jean Perry and Diana Anderson. His family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday April 27th between 5:00 and 7:30pm with a Funeral Service beginning at 7:30pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic.
