Robert (Sam) Armstrong

Robert Armstrong (Sam), 62, retired from the UCONN police department and resident of Coventry, CT and Hutchinson Island, FL, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at his home. Sam is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Armstrong of Coventry, CT and Hutchinson Island, FL; his children, Kristin (Bill) Toon and Michael (Jodi) Armstrong; Stephanie (Dave Bessette) Hawthorne; Ryan (Pat) Hawthorne; Brandon (Tracy) Hawthorne. His grandchildren, Austin and Anne Marie Armstrong, Luke and Brooke Hawthorne, Courtney (J.J. Hill) Hawthorne, Brandon, Logan and Hunter MacNamara; and his great-grandson Mason.?He is predeceased by his parents and his grandson Gage Seal. Sam was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Sam was hardworking and kind, and was happiest when helping others.?Sam spent the last 20 years retired, enjoying his life in Virginia, Florida, and CT.?He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. It was his wish that instead of any service or flowers that he be remembered while spending time with your family and friends. He believed?you should live?life to the fullest. ?Take a child fishing?, as he would say.
