Robert F Ake

Robert F. Drake, 80, of Storrs, husband of the late Margaret (Olsen) Drake, died Tuesday January 1, 2002 at his home. He was born November 3, 1921 in Palmer, Ma, the son of George and Margaret (Hannon) Drake, grew up in Chaplin and had lived in Mansfield most of his life. He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Drake was employed in the construction trade throughout his life and was retired from the Landscaping Department at the University of Connecticut. He is survived by a daughter, Linda Reilly of Willington, a son, Richard K. Drake of Ashford, a step-daughter, Joyce Shivers of Mansfield, a step-son Roderick Gordon of Ashford, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Robert Drake and a step-daughter, Margaret Martellini. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195, 1/2 mile south of Rte. 6) Willimantic. Burial will follow in the Mansfield Center Cemetery. His family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mansfield Fire Department, 999 Storrs, Rd.
