Rita Lambert

Celebrating the life of Catherine Rita Lambert Rita Lambert of Mansfield, CT ,passed in the presence of her loving family on January 16th, 2013,she joins her late husband James"Jim" and their son John. She was born in Hartford, CT on February 6th 1925 to James and Catherine Strachan and attended Hartford public elementary school, St Joseph Academy, St. Joseph College, graduating in early child hood development, finishing with a masters degree in education. Rita wed James Lee Lambert on June 19, 1948 at St. Augustine Church in Hartford. She was a town of Mansfield resident since moving back into the area in 1957,and a member of St. Joseph Church in Willimantic CT. After raising her family she returned to the work force as a substitute teacher in the Mansfield school system, then worked at UCONN until her retirement. Rita was known by many for her wit and exceptional ability to create beautiful needle work; quilting, knitting, sewing and crocheting. The focus of her life centered around her eight children, seven of whom survive her; daughter and her husband Cathy and Ron Kuhn of Fountain Hills AZ, son and wife Lee and Diane Lambert of Columbia CT, son Robert Lambert of Chesapeake VA, daughter and husband, Devra and Charles Larkins of Colchester CT, son and wife, Kevin and Sheryl Lambert of Mansfield CT., daughter and husband, Karen and Scott Morgan of San Diego CA., son and wife, Walter and Tina Lambert of Mansfield CT. She is also survived by her sister, Jean Garlasco of Glastonbury CT. Rita was very proud of her sixteen grandchildren, Julie Wardell, Evan Lambert, Christina Lambert, Ben Lambert, Jennifer Snyder, Johnathan Colburn, Jessie Colburn, Megan Lambert, Kelsey Lambert, Cortney Morgan, Mackenzie Morgan, Cassidy Morgan, Kaitlyn Morgan, Riley Morgan, Todd Lambert, Alyssa Lambert and her four great grandchildren, Tyler Wardell, Zoe Wardell, Andrew Snyder, Bradley Snyder. A heart felt thank you goes out to St. Joseph Living Center and Masonic Home Health Hospice, for the love and support over the last few months. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday Jan. 20th between 2:00 and 4:00pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday Jan. 21st at 11:00am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic with assembly at the church. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham.
