Rita M. Kearns ALFRED, Maine/NORTH WINDHAM - Rita M. (Bourgoin) Kearns, 85, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at Southern Maine Medical Hospital. She was born on November 8, 1918, the daughter of the late Joseph and Angelina Bourgoin. Rita worked for Brand Rex and Pratt & Whitney before retiring. Mrs. Kearns was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the widow of the late Russell M. Kearns and is survived by her four sons, Russell Kearns and wife, Pamela of North Windham, Roger Kenneth Kearns and his wife, Jeanne of Douglas, GA, Terry Kearns and his wife, Patricia of Columbia and Michael Joseph Kearns of Alfred, ME with whom she spent many happy years making new friends and enjoying many happy times. Rita and her son, Michael enjoyed caring for their many pets who will surely miss her. Rita is also survived by six grandchildren, Cheryl Cote of Jacksonville, NC, Lynn Engel of Columbia, James Kearns of Colchester, Kim Ridzon of Willington, Kelly Kearns McCarthy and Michael Kearns of Douglas, GA. She also leaves eight great-grandchildren, Erica Santa Lucia, Jeffrey Cote, Shaina Engel, Alex Cote, Chelsea Engel, Morgan Ridzon, Samatha Ridzon and Erin McCarthy who she loved dearly. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at 12:30 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be private in Windham Center. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to be made in Rita?s name to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, CT 06492.
